YJ was born and raised in Taiwan where he began his career in IT. He has enjoyed traveling around the world, experiencing different cultures and perspectives, and in his late 20’s decided to immigrate to Canada. The day he arrived in BC was his very first day in Canada. With uncertainties ahead, YJ was excited and determined to make something out of it. He continues to do that to this day.
Life was full of challenges and surprises. Without any Canadian work experience, YJ was not able to land himself a full-time job in IT. So, he decided to go back to school and pursued his CA/CPA designation. While going to school full time, he continued to work part-time to support himself and gain valuable experience which he has been able to carry with him throughout his career.
He started out his Canadian career in public practice. A couple of years later, he joined the government and held several technical and managerial positions within the government of BC as well as the federal government. After spending approximately 10 years in government, YJ realized that the best way to serve the public and be the best accountant he can be is through obtaining an expansive understanding of accounting and tax from all sides. He decided to leave the government and join PALLAN & ASSOCIATES to develop his knowledge even further.
Outside of work, YJ and his family enjoys travelling and hiking. YJ enjoys construction/renovation projects, playing basketball/video games with his son, and working on a local farm growing all sorts of vegetables. YJ is also an avid motorcyclist. YJ cares about people and the world and puts passion in everything he does.
